Chandana Rao is an intellectual property attorney with over ten years experience in patents, trademarks, copyrights, media and corporate law. Prior to joining Washington Law, Ms. Rao practiced intellectual property and business law in New York City at leading international and boutique firms. She has provided intellectual property and business counsel to both global clients and startups in pharmaceuticals, entertainment, technology, media, and biotechnology. She has advised clients in the protection and commercialization of their intellectual property. She has structured and negotiated licensing, technology, and other complex commercial agreements. In addition, Ms. Rao has specific experience in advising creative clients including social media companies, beauty entrepreneurs, fashion designers, photographers, art galleries, and design firms. Ms. Rao also founded a business consulting company to provide strategic consulting services to creative entrepreneurs in film, music, fashion, beauty and social media. She is an Associate Producer for the critically acclaimed non-fiction feature film, “Yes Madam Sir,” which, among other awards, was an official selection at the Toronto Film Festival in 2007. “Yes Madam Sir” has been released in the US by Warner Brothers. Ms. Rao is a graduate of Rutgers Law School -Newark, where she was the Business Editor of the Rutgers Law Review, and Rutgers University (B.A., Biology, M.S., Cell Biology). She is an author of “Staking a Claim in the Nanoworld,” published in Corporate Counsel, June 2004. She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
